Maybe they can even incorporate the relationship between Megs and OP with that. The vehicle-pulled turret actually sounds amazing though. I'm also seeing Shockwave suffering that bit as well. Megs would probably be another tank in a line of tanks. I guess they do have their legit reasons. Still though, I can respect those that go for nostalgia and uniqueness, they grew up with, that's what they find so fun about him. Well I guess that makes a bit more sense. Or maybe fusion him with BW Megatron? I love that magnificent bastard, but the guy's a marketing nightmare to do anything significant with and how cool would be to have a Megs turning into a t-rex with a cannon on top or that has a separate turret mode.Įither way, yes, gun is stupid, but it's unique and nostalgic, so people like it. Maybe he could turn into a turret station or even something to be lugged around by some designated cab/car transformers, bonus points if Optimus is one of them, that'd be fairly unique and cool granted that's sorta Galvatron's vibe. He could also turn into a plane or spaceship.but then the issue is even worse, there are a bazillion planeformers, with at least two teams solely based on that with the seekers and aerial bots and alien spaceship transformers have a pretty bad track record.

That said, I do understand and agree with the uniqueness aspect, as there are already far too many tank transformers, Warpath, Brawl, Bludgeon, sometimes certainly doesn't help that tankformers usually go for "generic tank", so they all look rather samey or go for the H tank look which usually doesn't lead to the most interesting transformation scheme. Now, this is coming from someone who started with G1 and always thought that Megs' gun mode was stupid and imbecile, even more so because he couldn't shoot himself. The reason people like gun Megs is because of nostalgia, uniqueness (both as far as altmodes go and toys) and as a bit of "take that!" at the whole anti toy guns movement that happened during/after the 90s. Shit on the Bayverse all you want, there are some good gems in there. Maybe once or twice but he'll eventually slip. Heavily damaged and he can no longer put up a strong fight. And the Decepticons' lack of resources shows with how Megs still has his battle scars. This Megatron is severely damaged and no longer fully functional. Technically making them refugees with limited resources.

Movie 2 : cybertronian tank/gunship(?) Megatron's no longer in full condition and the Decepticons are hunted. I.e Animated's attack helicopter, Aligned's tank modes and Cybertronian jet/heavy gunship and even Bayverse which takes a whole new spin on his altmodes and the reasons behind why. People don't really recognize Megs if he's drastically different but most of his modern depictions actually incooperates a lot of his G1 features without being a handgun. Rant aside, I can get the iconography really. Make him a cannon, or a walking turret, or even just some type of Weaponizer-esque combineable set of cannons and other weaponry. But a feckin' handgun? That has to make Megatron rely on others to use him? atleast make something bigger? Like, a gun I can get it. Now share your thoughts please? I'd like if this isn't just a rant and more of a discussion. I'm just a bit weirded out how someone likes that. And a bit miffed by people's preferance for handgun Megs. So again, I'm a bit miffed at Megs being a handgun. But then that's also a bit of canon errors Transformers has so, eh. One of the reasons I don't much like 'handgun' Megs.

But then half of those would make him a targetmaster.

inappropriate for Megs.įor one, I won't have anything against Megs being some other gun, a massive, literal handcannon perhaps, or a turret system, or a mountable weapons system. Maybe I don't have the nostalgia of G1ers(I respect people who do) but I just feel like its. A tank fits really much but even something else a heavy gunship or jet, works extremely well for the franchise's main villain.īut. Just why do people like gun Megatron? I mean, sure G1ers and all that, but just why do people have it against Megs having something else as an Alt mode? I much prefer Megs having something more. Then renewed my interest with Prime and IDW. Little disclaimer : I grew up with Bayformers. To start, this is more of a rant than anything so discard this, ignore it or just go along with it.ĭo recommend the 'go along' route though.
